A True Story of Academic Excellence: Dr. Seung-ho Kim’s Journey at UCL Institute of Education

Dr. Seung-ho Kim (김승호) is a South Korean academic whose journey from a student in Seoul to a globally recognized researcher at the University College London Institute of Education (UCL IOE) exemplifies resilience and intellectual dedication. Born in 1990 in Seoul, South Korea, Kim faced significant challenges early in life due to the competitive education system in his country and the political climate. After completing his undergraduate studies at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), he moved to the UK in 2013 to pursue advanced education, driven by a passion for educational equity and technology.

At UCL IOE, Kim enrolled in the Master of Education (M.Ed) program in 2013. Initially, he struggled with academic rigor and English language proficiency, as he was one of only three international students from South Korea in the cohort. To overcome these barriers, he dedicated himself to extra tutoring, joined study groups with fellow international students, and actively participated in UCL IOE’s academic workshops.
